mini-connected

We like to keep Leicester MINI owners in the loop when it comes to new Mini technology and features and we are sure that you will love this new gadget!

BMW group are to debut their groundbreaking industry-first iPhone integration in the MINI.

Titled MINI Connected, a central computing system in the Mini will integrate with the iPhone through native applications.

This follows the announcement of the Mission Control feature towards the end of last year, that will provide drivers with commentary on their driving style and the conditions they are facing.

MINI Connected will offer in-car web radio streaming and many unique opportunities for customisation and integration of additional functions.

Both will debut at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show this week, and first be made available in the new Countryman, a small SUV being launched by MINI.

Technology is taking over more and more in today’s vehicle development, who knows what will be available to MINI drivers in Leicester in 5 and even 10 years time.

New Mini to be produced in Germany

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Production of the new Mini is set to be transferred to Germany rather than the UK based plant in Oxford.

Due to a large demand for the new BMW Mini it seems that the production may move to a domestic plant in Germany rather than add to production at it’s factory in Cowley.

The Oxford plant is one of the biggest remaining UK car plants but it insufficient to supply to such an overwhelming demand, as it is already reaching close to capacity.

Instead BMW will produce the new Mini range at a larger domestic plant in Germany – another blow to the British car industry.

Another reason for moving the production of the Coupe and Roadster to the state-of-the-art Regensburg plant, is due to the currency exchange rates and other costs that will make it more competitive.
