Hydrogen to make MINI power

Friday, April 30th, 2010

If you are looking for a car to drive around the county, that is better for the environment and you don’t fancy an electric vehicle, then Bond Street Select may just have the answer for you…although you may have to wait a while.

According to internet spies, it seems like BMW are working hard to create a more eco-friendly version of the MINI.

They are currently developing a new hybrid system that uses the standard MINI front-wheel-drive powertrain up front alongside a hydrogen-based system on the rear axle.

In the coming decade it look likely that more and more City centres will adopt a taxation on heavily emitting cars and provide free access to clean alternatives.

We do not know yet when the hydrogen-based system will be available on the market but we will keep you updated on any developments.

MINI E trials take place

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

The brand new MINI E will soon be available for purchase by drivers in Leicestershire.

BMW MINI are currently in the process of looking for volunteers for phase 2 of their MINI E trials.

The electric version of the well loved and adventurous car moves MINI a step further into future.

If you use the social networking website Facebook you may have noticed a number of adverts that have been created to promote the MINI E trial.

Don’t get all excited just yet though, the trials are only taking place in a small test area in the South East of England. Included in this area are the likes of Oxford, Southampton and Reading.

If you are looking to test drive a MINI in the near future why not pop down to see us here at Bond Street Select.

MINI Countryman accessories

Monday, April 26th, 2010

BMW MINI drivers in Leicester will know just how many options there are to take into consideration when buying a MINI.

The MINI Countryman comes with the trademark MINI sports seats and so many choices of interior options.

Another well known feature which can be a little like marmite, you either love it or you hate it, is the trademark central located speedometer.

The Countryman also has a Cooper and Cooper S edition which come with larger alloy wheels as standard.

A nifty little feature to appear in the MINI Countryman is a centre rail, which replaces a conventional centre console, to create space for cup holder, phone chargers, music players and other bits and bobs.

The great thing is that you get a whole bunch of equipment that comes as standard. This includes roof bars, aircon, rear parking sensors and a USB port.

Standard equipment includes:
Heated door mirrors with washer jets.
Six air bags.
Roof bars.
Aircon.
A USB port.
Bluetooth mobile phone preparation.
Electronic stability programme.
Speed-related electric power steering.
Rear parking sensors.
IsoFix child safety-seat mountings.
Tyre pressure monitor.
Central Bass audio system radio boost and with six speakers.

Prices in the UK will range from £16 000 - £22 030 (R193 000 – R266 000).

If you haven’t had first hand experience of the interior of a MINI we would be more than happy to show you around a few models we currently have in stock so that you can see for yourself just how much they can vary.

MINI Countryman launch

Monday, April 26th, 2010

The fourth in the range of BMW MINI to hit Leicester’s streets will be the MINI Countryman following the hatch, convertible and Clubman.

The new member of the family will be available in Europe in five models, three of which will have all-wheel drive.

BMW have worked on the 4×4 version of the Countryman to provide consumers with the cleanest all-wheel drive on the market.

The diesel two-wheel drive version is rated at 116g/km of CO2. BMW haven’t yet announced the figures on the four-wheel-drive version of the Countryman however, it is expected that the CO2 levels will be less than 120G/KM.

This means that the car will beat the Toyota Urban Cruiser which currently measures 130g/km.

The MINI countryman also comes with a more upright grille, making it not only look good but it also makes the car a lot more pedestrian friendly.
