Mini Countryman – urban meets country

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Celebs swapped their high heels for wellies for one night only last month to welcome the brand new Mini Countryman.

The star-studded launch – Mini Countryman Open Air – was held at Mudchute Farm in East London and featured an exclusive performance of new single ‘Getaway’ by US country singer Michelle Branch and rap megastar Timbaland.

Reflecting the event’s theme of ‘Urban meets Country’, the VIP guests explored 32 acres of green fields where graffitied sheep roamed against a backdrop of the London skyline.

As a genuine crossover design, the Countryman is the perfect choice for those who love the Mini brand but need more space and greater flexibility to drive beyond the city environment. Families can use it to get around town during the week, but there’s enough room to pack up for a trip away at the weekend. Mini Countryman is the largest ever Mini, and the first with four doors. It also offers an all-wheel drive option.

Mini shall go to the ball!

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Three top fashion designers have created exclusive Minis for this year’s Mini Life Ball.

The well-dressed trio will join international stars at the glamorous event in Vienna on 17th July. The annual ball is a major charity fundraiser for research into HIV/AIDS.

The creative director of Calvin Klein, Francisco Costa, has designed the Mini Countryman. Diane von Furstenberg has set her talents to work on the Mini Hatch, while Kenneth Cole applied his unmistakeable style to the Mini Convertible.

All three Minis will be auctioned to raise money for the charity amFar.

This is the 10th consecutive year that BMW Mini has supported this important cause. Every year sees the production of specially designed vehicles – previous designers of Life Ball Minis include Versace, Missoni, Diesel and Agent Provocateur.

You’ll find a equally stunning – and rather more wearable – collection of BMW Minis at Bond Street Select.

Mini to join World Rally Championship?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Rumours are still circulating that BMW Mini will be taking part in the World Rally Championship from 2012, racing the new Mini Countryman crossover.

Mini has been linked with the highly successful Prodrive group, a British car technology company based in Oxfordshire.

Mini of course has a proud history in rally racing going back to the 1960s. While Prodrive won six WRC titles with the Subaru World Rally Team and also led Aston Martin to back to back wins at Le Mans in 2007 and 2008.

So this could prove to be a very fruitful partnership indeed. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next…

The regular, non-racing Mini Countryman will be available to buy, from Bond Street Select, from September 2010.

Standard equipment includes:
Heated door mirrors with washer jets.
Six air bags.
Roof bars.
Aircon.
A USB port.

MINI Countryman launch

Monday, April 26th, 2010

The fourth in the range of BMW MINI to hit Leicester’s streets will be the MINI Countryman following the hatch, convertible and Clubman.

The new member of the family will be available in Europe in five models, three of which will have all-wheel drive.

BMW have worked on the 4×4 version of the Countryman to provide consumers with the cleanest all-wheel drive on the market.

The diesel two-wheel drive version is rated at 116g/km of CO2. BMW haven’t yet announced the figures on the four-wheel-drive version of the Countryman however, it is expected that the CO2 levels will be less than 120G/KM.

This means that the car will beat the Toyota Urban Cruiser which currently measures 130g/km.

The MINI countryman also comes with a more upright grille, making it not only look good but it also makes the car a lot more pedestrian friendly.

BMW Mini Countryman launch delayed yet again

Friday, November 20th, 2009

After several launch delays already this year, the Mini Countryman is set to be delayed again. Yet it seems that this is not because the Mini is yet to be completed but that the big wigs in the Mini and BMW world are not happy to launch a new car in such a fragile economic climate.

While things do seem to be improving on the economic front the parent company of Mini, BMW, are still contemplating delaying the Countryman’s launch. Reports suggest that the U.S. launch could now be delayed until 2011.

There will be a 1.6 litre petrol engine and a 2.0 litre diesel BMW engine. There will also be 2 John Cooper Works special edition versions of the Countryman. One will feature pretty much the same technology of the R56 JCW however the second will be an all-wheel drive with reduced weight and a hotter JCW engine.
